Document Repository — now in beta

Upload contracts and case files, then ask AI about them minutes later — in IURA chat or in Claude via MCP. Here is exactly how the new Repository works — from upload, through OCR and encryption, to answers with citations.

Your documents become a source

IURA has been built on one principle from the start: every sentence leads to a source. Until today, those sources were statutes, rulings and other public materials. Today a new category joins them — your own documents.

The Repository, available in beta as of today, is a private, encrypted space for your firm's documents: contracts, case files, amendments, pleadings. You upload the files, and minutes later you can ask about them — in IURA chat or in Claude. Every answer points to the document and the exact passage it came from.

How exactly does it work?

1. You upload documents

Drag PDF, DOCX or DOC files into the Repository — one by one or in batches, up to 50 MB per file. Documents can be organized into folders, for example by case or by client.

2. IURA processes them in minutes

After upload, every document goes through an automated processing pipeline whose progress you can watch live:

  1. Conversion — the file is normalized into a uniform format.
  2. Text recognition (OCR) — including scans. A scanned case file becomes searchable text.
  3. Chunking and indexing — the content is split into fragments and vectorized, so it can be searched by meaning, not just by keywords.
  4. Encryption — the document and its fragments are encrypted with keys unique to your account.

A typical document is ready in a few minutes. Each file's status — "Pending", "Processing", "Ready" — is visible in the document table, including page-by-page progress for larger files.

3. You work with the documents

A processed document opens in a side-by-side view: the original PDF on the left, the recognized text on the right. You search the Repository semantically — ask about "contractual penalties for contractor delay" and the system finds the right clauses even if the contract uses none of those words.

4. You ask — and the answer cites its source

This is the most important part. You can ask about documents in your Repository exactly the way you ask IURA about the law:

"What notice period does the lease agreement with Orion provide?"

The IURA agent — with your consent — reaches into your repository, finds the relevant fragments and answers with a citation: the document name and the place the information came from. One click on the citation opens the document in the viewer, with the quoted passage highlighted.

Two ways to use it: IURA or Claude

On the IURA platform

You will find the Repository in the platform menu. Upload, folders, search, document viewer and chat with citations — all in one place, next to your legal research.

In Claude and other MCP clients

The Repository is also available as an MCP server. In your client's settings (for example Claude), add the address:

https://mcp.iura.io/repo/mcp

and after signing in, your agent receives tools to search and read your documents. Ask Claude about a contract — Claude reaches into your repository and answers based on the actual content of the file. This also works in Cursor and other MCP-enabled tools.

Importantly: whichever way you use it, the documents stay in the same encrypted space. MCP does not create a copy — it gives the agent controlled access to the same repository.

Confidentiality built into the architecture

Law firm documents are covered by professional privilege, so the Repository was built around four principles:

  • Per-account encryption — every document is encrypted with keys unique to your account. There is no shared data store.
  • Data stays in the EU — storage and processing run on European infrastructure.
  • Never used for training — your files are not used to train AI models. Not ours, not anyone's.
  • Strict access isolation — documents are visible only to the account that uploaded them. Every request is verified against your identity.

Availability

The Repository is available in beta on the Partner and Senior Partner plans. During the beta we are actively developing the feature — further elements, including automatic folder summaries, are already in the works. Feedback and ideas are very welcome.
